I’m excited, I’m optimistic, I’m eager, I’m anxious and experiencing a little anxiety that’s creeping into my space. Being one who has battled with depression, I ask myself, what can I expect by attending #BlogHer17 conference. I contemplated over several weeks on whether I should go. I waited for the last minute to register because I have a sick brother in ICU that I oversee, and I desperately needed to do something for ME (after traveling week after week to check on him for over the last couple of months). The location after all, is right in my back door, Orlando, Florida, about an hour drive for me and with owning a timeshare in the nearby area, that’s a no brainer, right? I checked with the host hotel for any amenities that might be offered as a patron in my situation and find that for me to park there would cost me $27 per day. There’s nothing wrong with that price, I just wasn’t willing to pay it. I started viewing some of the responses on the #BlogHer social media app and found some information about parking. Someone mentioned that they would be parking at Disney Springs and Uber to the event, I thought Disney Springs, what’s that, mind you I’m a Floridian, however, I had to search this and find out exactly what it is(a shopping district), well great, with free parking, okay, even better. With this information in hand, I set up my Uber account to prepare to use their services.

So here it is, all reservations in hand now, I’ve gone to the nail salon for my manicure and pedicure; packed my clothing for this three-day event, what I’m going to wear Thursday, Friday, and Saturday; set up my agenda/schedule for the sessions that I want to attend; and prepare to head out traveling east on I-4 Thursday afternoon. I check-in at my timeshare and prepare to attend the conference of my life. I arrived at Disney Springs, parked my car, connected with Uber(driver there within 5 minutes), hopped in and experienced my first Uber ride in destination to Hilton Hotel Bonnet Creek. Stepping out of the car at the hotel, I get a call from the hospital regarding my brother, ask her to hold on as I get to a quieter spot to hear more clearly, and after finishing my call walked on down the hall to the Floridian Salon where Chelsea Clinton was on stage in a discussion on Planned Parenthood.

Four Things I Knew
1. I knew that I wanted to attend this conference.
2. I knew that I would meet other women who were bloggers.
3. I knew that I wanted to do something to elevate my game.
4. I knew that it would be awesome and a life changer.

This #BlogHer17 conference was what I needed and I’m so glad I attended. All of the speakers panel discussion participants and workshop/session participants were inspiring and encouraging. I met a lot of bloggers some of who I’m looking forward to working with. There were bloggers of all levels from newbies like myself to some who have been doing it for years. There was something for all to gain and take away to make make our lives better and to make our blogs better.

I say thanks to the founders, the organizers, #BlogHer17 committee, volunteers, and #sheknowsmedia for putting on such a FANTASTIC event.
